During an exclusive interview with Liberty Online TV yesterday morning, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr was asked whether maintenance of roads was the responsibility of Freetown City Council.
She explained that the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) has the responsibility to do the maintenance work whilst the Road Maintenance Fund collects the fees from vehicle licences and a percentage from all fuel purchases to fund the maintenance work.
Mayor Aki-Sawyerr referenced the attached video that clearly shows the deplorable state of Freetown’s roads and urged Government to prioritize repairs of our capital city’s roads. Freetown is the gateway to Sierra Leone and Freetonians are the largest contributors to the RMFA!
