FCC hosts RE:ACT to conduct an incident management training

Last week, FCC hosted a team from RE:ACT (a UK-based humanitarian organization) to conduct an incident management training and the set up an operations room for the Council’s Disaster Management Unit.
The 3-day training ended on Thursday April 28 and covered areas such as incorporating efficient incident management techniques into emergency responses and introducing simple strategies for improving response time and multi-stakeholder collaboration in responding to disasters.
The RE:ACT team also helped with the setup of the FCC Disaster Response Management Operations room, and provided items required to make it functional and support the work of the Disaster Management Unit headed by, Mr Gabriel Hallowel.
The training was well-attended with representatives from several departments within FCC including the Disaster Risk Management Unit, Social Services Department, Sanitation and Environment Department, and the Metropolitan Police. A representative of the National Disaster Management Agency and chairpersons of FCC’s Climate Committee, Cllr Unisa Kamara, and the Environmental Committee, Cllr Murray Allie Conteh were also present.
